Go Green with Horselea Holiday Cottages
At Horselea Holiday Cottages we are members of Green Tourism Business Scheme, and are very proud of our Silver Award and are working to encourage our guests to think GREEN both here on holiday and at home. Our own ethos is to be as green as possible within our businesses, (farming and tourism), to reduce and recycle wherever possible, use LED lighting wherever practical, local produce or from our garden, and of course eggs from my small flock of hens. Sound good, please ask if any are available. Every little step we take helps the environment and reduces food miles.
To help you enjoy your holiday we have a few suggestions:
Live Like a Local – good local food is available in Perthshire. We are famous for our soft fruit, what can be better than a punnet of fresh Strawberries or Raspberries straight from the farm. Local beef and pork etc is available in several Farm Shops,
- The Brig Farm Shop,
- or the Farmers Market held monthly in Perth City Centre. www.localfoods.org.uk
Leave the Car and use public transport wherever possible. Perthshire has lots of fantastic cycle routes, bring your bike and enjoy the countryside at a slower pace.
Highland Perthshire has a hop on off bus around Aberfeldy, Kenmore area. Well worth investigating.
Recycling is a priority at Horselea, details in our cottages to help you recycle bottles, cardboard, paper, plastics and many other items. Please help us to reduce the waste going to landfill in our area.
Lastly, please turn off all lights when you leave the property. Wherever possible our lights are energy efficient, low wattage or LED. Have you left a tap running, please turn it off.
Please respect our environment help us to maintain the landscape for others to enjoy, please take any rubbish home and follow the countryside code.
